Heartbreak for Jerry Nadeau means Victory for Ricky Rudd . .
Ricky Rudd

Sonoma, CA – As a dejected Jerry Nadeau pulled to the side of the track in the 11th turn, Ricky Rudd sped by to take the checkered flag at the first of two road courses on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit.

There were only two laps left when the rear end gave out on the Georgia Pacific Dodge driven by Jerry Nadeau. This allowed Ricky Rudd in the Havoline Ford to snatch his first win of 2002. Pole sitter, Tony Stewart, driving the Home Depot Pontiac was not far behind, taking 2nd at the Dodge/Save Mart 350.

Wasn’t it great to see drivers like John Andretti, Terry Labonte, Jeff Green and Jerry Nadeau leading during the final laps of a race! While some of the top guns, Ricky Rudd, Mark Martin and Tony Stewart struggled with traffic trying to make it back to the front before the race ended.

Pit strategy caused some excitement at the end of a race that some fans feel should not be included on the Winston Cup schedule. Give us your opinion on road course racing. Send your email to tracksidegirls @aol.com.
