WARD BURTON BACK IN THE WINNER'S CIRCLE
Ward Burton Car

Loudon, NH - From 31st to 1st, Ward Burton uses pit strategy and luck to win the Stacker 2,
New England 300 at New Hampshire. With 10 laps to go, Ward took the #22 Cat Dodge to the front and didn't look back. Ward had not had a top 5 finish since winning the Daytona 500 in February.

Rusty Wallace had another amazing week as well. After being 2 laps down, he worked steadily to the front in the #2 Miller Lite Ford, finishing 4th.

Other notable finishes included the #30 AOL Chevrolet of Jeff Green who finished 2nd and Dale Jarrett with the #88 UPS Ford. He started in the back, pitted out of sequence and led the race for a short time. He finished 3rd.

However, with its new surface, the track left many drivers frustrated. The race was filled with 14 cautions, a record for any one race so far this season. Hopes for a second groove to come in were never fulfilled. Drivers quickly discovered that running high would be dangerous. Several cars smacked the wall after getting caught up in "marbles" from where the track was coming up.

Hopefully, the track conditions will improve for the next Loudon race coming up in September.
Tell us what you thought about the race.
