AWESOME BILL FROM DAWSONVILLE DOES IT AGAIN....
Bill Elliott

Indianapolis, IN - For two weeks in a row Bill Elliott and Dodge have swept the NASCAR Winston Cup Circuit. Now securely in the top ten in points, is Elliott a real contender for the points championship?

Two years ago when the announcement was made that Ray Everham had asked Bill Elliott to head up the first Dodge racing team in decades many wondered why. Even Elliott himself admits he wasn't sure he was the best choice but with the financial backing, experience, and knowledge of Everham the team has far exceeded many critics expectations. The assumed "has been" showed he can still get the job done and is enjoying every minute of it. When interviewed Elliott stated, with a Cheshire grin, that maybe he wasn't such a bad choice.

Rusty Wallace humbly finishing second for the third time at Indianapolis loosing the lead with just over ten laps to go. Wallace's car running tight all day was his biggest challenge. As he dove into turn three on lap 12 the car finally got the best of him and that is all it took for Elliott to sneak under him to take the lead. And in the lead was where Elliott finished out the race still pulling away from the Miller Lite Ford.
For all the Rusty fans, keep that chin up. There's always next year!

Other Top Ten Notables were Steve Park with his great finish after last weeks terrible wreck
(Hopefully proving to all the doubters out there that he really should be in Winston Cup).
A good job was done by Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Robby Gordon and Kevin Harvick who was battling food poisoning all day.

Tony Stewart finishing an unmentionable twelfth place was a huge disappointment for himself, the team, owner, and fans. With him capturing the new track record and securing a spot in the Bud Pole many including himself expected much more from this seasoned driver. After the last pit stop it looked like Stewart would finish up fourth but to no avail, his car just seemed to lose it's get up and go. However, Stewart is still in the top ten in points and is only one point behind Elliott. On a personal level this win would have meant a great deal to Stewart. This is a track he just can't seem to tame.

BTW - Does anyone know how many trips the Hooter's Ford took to the garage this week?? And is there anyone out there that can get a message to Kurt Busch that the next time he wants to show his fanny to please aim it more directly at the camera for our viewing pleasure.
