JIMMIE JOHNSON SWEEPS THE MONSTER MILE!

Dover, DE - On a sweltering day honoring All-American Heroes, Jimmie Johnson fights his way to the front and wins for the 2nd time this season at Dover International Speedway.
With Mark Martin closing in on the final laps, the #48 Lowes Chevrolet began making his way through lapped traffic only to confront Greg Biffle in the #55 Schneider Electric Chevrolet. Jimmie struggled as he tried to get around Greg confused as to why Greg so doggedly continued to block him. As he finally passed the #55, Jimmie realized that Greg would be a member of Roush Racing, the owner of Mark Martin's #6 Viagra Ford. Mark was unable to catch Jimmie and finished 2nd in the race. He still retains a 30-point lead over Jimmie in the Championship standings.
Rusty Wallace started the race on the pole in the #2 Miller Lite Ford. He had a strong car, but lost positions during pit stops. Then, he cut a tire late in the race, causing him to finish 15th.
Tony Stewart appeared to have the car to beat during the middle portion of the race, but he too lost positions during pit stops. The #20 Home Depot Pontiac finished 3rd in the race and jumped to 3rd in the standings as well.
Dale Earnhardt Jr took the lead away from Rusty Wallace and stretched his lead to nearly a quarter of the mile, When the #8 Budweiser Chevrolet began having problems and he ended the race 4 laps down.
There were several laps of nose to tail, door to door excitement with Rusty Wallace, Tony Stewart, Dale Jarrett, and Ricky Craven fighting for the lead as they made their way around slower traffic. It was enough to make you catch your breath.
Although the Monster snatched several victims at the start of the race, apparently the heat
was enough to tame the track for the majority of the race. Let us know if you enjoyed the race!
