A SALUTE TO NASCAR

During a time when our country is remembering the tragedies that occurred a year ago, we should be united in the faith on which our country was founded. Nowhere is our unity more apparent than in NASCAR. Is there any other sport where the opening ceremony prayer is nationally televised? There are very few places in this country where one can feel comfortable with a public display of their belief in God. After more than 50 years of existence, there has been no demand to ban the prayer.

In crowds numbering in the 100 thousands, there are no complaints. NASCAR fans are proud to wave their flags, hoist their signs and yell "God Bless America"! They may fight over who is the best driver, but for those precious few moments, they stand together in their support for God and the USA.

As other sports struggle with attendance and player strikes, the overwhelming success of NASCAR continues to rise. We want to thank NASCAR for keeping prayer in their opening ceremonies. May they continue to inspire their fans to be proud they are Americans!
