Brian earned 11 poles and 6 wins while racing in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series driving Late Model stock cars in 1999. He finished 2nd in the Championship standings.
At 17, Brian was the youngest Rookie of the Year in USAR (United Speed Alliance Racing) Pro Cup Series history. In 2001, he was 2nd in points with 11 top 5 finishes in 22 starts and 2 wins. He also competed in 4 NASCAR Busch Series races.
Brian had 21 starts in the Busch Series in 2002. He had 1 top 10, 5 top 15 and 8 top 20 finishes. In 3 races, he had the most improved positions, starting 38th, 35th and 26th, he moved up to 7th, 12th, and 13th.
In 2003, Brian signed with the Hendrick Motorsports organization. He became the youngest driver ever to win a Busch Series Championship (20). He had 3 victories, Darlington, Dover and Indianapolis Raceway Park, 13 top 5 finishes and 21 top 10. He had 23 top 10 qualifying starts. He is the youngest driver in any NASCAR professional series to win a championship.
Brian is not able to compete in the IROC series this year due to his age and government regulations regarding promotional activities for liquor. However, he is looking forward to his first year racing full time in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.
