Robby's first Winston Cup race was in 1991, but he was better known for open wheel competition. He has finished in the top 5 in 3 out of his 7 races at the Indianapolis 500. Robby's Winston Cup experience had been limited to racing at Sears Point and Watkins Glen due to his talent on the road courses. He had his first Winston Cup win at New Hampshire in 2001 where he caused a ruckus when he bumped Jeff Gordon out of his way. He did not fare well in his first full season with Richard Childress last year.
