Before moving to the Late Model Stock Car Division in 1990, Scott had over 100 wins in Motocross and was North Carolina State Champion in 1987.
Scott drove part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1999 and 2000. In his first year as a full-time driver (2001), he ended 5th in Championship Points, with 5 wins and 5 Bud Poles in 24 starts.
Scott was the Busch Series Rookie of the Year in 2002 where he finished 10th in the standings with 2 wins and 13 top 10 finishes. He was in contention for the championship title in 2003 until the last race in Homestead. He finished 6th.
Scott will race full time this year in the Nextel Cup Series. He is one of 6 rookies to compete in that series for 2004.
